Introducing Meander Volume One: Returning to Place
My first editorial letter, sharing the vision behind our inaugural issue
“The most remarkable feature of this historical moment on Earth is not that we are on the way to destroying the world – we’ve actually been on the way for quite a while. It is that we are beginning to wake up, as from a millennia-long sleep, to a whole new relationship to our world, to ourselves and each other.” - Joanna Macy
For tens of thousands of years, humans lived in reciprocity with the living world – acting as stewards of the land alongside wolves, beavers, rivers and forests. In the briefest blink of history, we forgot.
What gives me hope is that we don’t need to invent a new way of living. We only need to remember. So the question becomes: how do we reinterpret this way of living – as part, not apart from nature – for future generations? That is the question we promise to meander through in this magazine, and we hope you will join us on this journey of active hope and collective evolution.
